K-pop (Korean: 가요, Gayo) (an abbreviation of Korean pop or Korean mainstream music) is a musical genre consisting of electropop, hip hop, pop, rock, and R&B music originating in South Korea. In addition to music, K-pop has grown into a popular subculture among teenagers and young adults around the world, resulting in widespread interest in the fashion and style of Korean idol groups and singers.Through the presence of Facebook fan pages, availability on iTunes, Twitter profiles, and music videos on YouTube, the ability of K-pop to reach a previously inaccessible audience via the Internet is driving a paradigm shift in the exposure and popularity of the genre.

South Korea is today one of the largest producers of contemporary music in Asia-Pacific. Their popular culture is today serving as a major driver of contemporary culture all across the Pacific Rim, with special reference to mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam. The K-pop genre is currently moving towards a position in the region, similar to that enjoyed by American music in Europe and the West, up until the 1990's.

now, i will tell you about 2PM one of the famous k-pop artist.

2pm achievment

In March 2009, 2PM was selected to model for EXR, a clothing company in Korea. In July 2009, the members of 2PM were selected as the representatives of foreign artists by the Thai government-led tourism campaign, I Love Thailand. Member Nichkhun has also been selected by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as the face of their newest campaign, "Come to Thailand; Let's Take a Break!"
In August 2009, 2PM collaborated with the Body Shop in 'Soft Hands, Kind Heart', a worldwide campaign that calls for the protection of children and teenagers against sex trafficking. The members will act as Korea's spokespeople for the campaign.
In late October 2009, a commercial film (CF) of 2PM promoting Hanami (a Thailand snack company) was released, which also included Jaebeom; the commercial was said to be filmed prior to his departure in September.
November 2009 saw multiple new endorsement deals for the group, the first of which being a commercial and print campaign for Market O's "Real Brownie" pastry. Shortly thereafter, the group endorsed the Samsung Corby mobile phone, one of the newest mobile devices in Samsung's popular "Anycall" series, both on television and on the Samsung website. 2PM is also currently endorsing Paris-Croissant Food Company's Paris Baguette bakery franchise, for which the group recorded a special Christmas song and are featured in a series of commercials with popular Korean actress Kim Tae Hee.
In 2010, 2PM has signed on to endorse Coca-Cola as well as the clothing company SPRIS (also known as PONY). Members Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Junsu and Wooyoung endorse Cass Beer, and Nichkhun has continued advertising for the Suzuki Jelato motorcycle in Thailand. In addition, 2PM now endorses Calvin Klein South Korea, as well as, most recently, It's Skin, a South Korean cosmetics and skin care brand.
In mid-2010, 2PM has been chosen along Girls' Generation to be the spokesperson for Caribbean Bay. Shortly after, the members of 2PM (except for Nichkhun) were chosen to sing the song "Fly to Seoul (Boom Boom Boom)" to support tourism in Korea. Due to renewal of their endorsement deal with Samsung, 2PM recorded the song "Nori For U" for Samsung Anycall NORi.

2PM news

According to Thailand's International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), 2PM is the top-selling foreign artist(s) for 2009.

2PM beat out popular artists such as Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas with the release of their Thailand Special Album back in June. Despite the turmoil with Jaebeom, 2PM's popularity in Thailand is still very strong. Speaking of turmoil, if you can recall, back in August TVXQ was also selected as the Most Popular Asian Artist 2009 on Thailand's Channel V Music Video Awards.

During happier times back in July, 2PM made a visit to Thailand and even visited with the Prime Minister.

I'm sure the presence of a Thai member in Nichkhun has helped 2PM's popularity in Thailand tremendously. Right now, the 6 members of 2PM are finding popularity in homeland Korea as well as they won the coveted artist of the year at Mnet's MAMA. Hopefully, their leader Jaebeom can join them in the near future.

Jay Park interviewed about 2PM, his family, and his ideal girl

Jay Park recently made an appearance on the November 10th episode of "Talk Show Taxi" on tvN. He talked all about his family, career, and his ideal girl. The interview touched on some topics and issues that were quite personal such as the reason he left 2PM and his feelings were when leaving Korea.

Jay was asked if he still kept in touch with 2PM but answered no. He did say that he really missed them quite a lot since he was really close to Taecyeon and Nichkhun. They were close because they were able to communicate with their English as well instead of only Korean. The hosts really tried to ask a lot about the 2PM incident making Jay a little uncomfortable.

Jay answered that it was really coming down to what he had to do. He also said that he realized many fans were not happy with Jay publicizing the incident since he got accused of being an attention-grabber. He heard a lot of bad things back then and everyone around him suffered a tough time, especially his parents.

He gave up everything when he left the group and he was left to question what would he be doing next. After moving back to Seattle, Jay worked at a local tire shop since he didn't want to rely on parents. Although the shop only paid $400 a month, he worked hard to not disappoint his parents. Lee Young Ja, responded that she wouldn't be able to work in a tire shop if she left a celebrity life. Jay disagreed since he was really blessed to be a celebrity but also he didn't feel the need to still be one. He was just thankful there were still people around him that cared.

Jay's ideal type was not just about a beautiful girl or a perfect body but he wants a girl that is able to build chemistry with communication. It could be through anything, meaning it doesn't only have to be the smile, eyes, or personality, just a connection. He also addressed the rumors about picking Min Hyo Rin as his ideals.

Nichkhun to make his Japanese movie debut in ‘Ouran High School Host club'

On November 13th, Korean group 2PM’s Nichkhun (23) announced that he will make his Japanese movie debut in the upcoming movie version of popular drama, ‘Ouran High School Host Club‘.

This movie is based on a manga of the same name. It is a romantic comedy centered around a popular host club at ‘Ouran High School’, where the female student Haruhi (Kawaguchi Haruna) has to disguise herself as a male host to repay a huge debt. Nichkhun will play the older brother of Michelle, an international student played by AKB48’s Shinoda Mariko (25).

Nichkhun will play the president of Singapore’s leading corporation and will be featured in a business suit – giving off a sleeker, more polished look from his usual image. He is also the first 2PM member to be participating in a Japanese film.

He will have to speak in both Japanese and English in this theatrical adaptation. While explaining the role the producer stated, “Nichkhun demonstrates a proficient English level as he has studied it in the U.S. He has a flavor of bashfulness and confidence which is perfect for this role.” The producer also discussed his high expectations of Nichkhun.

Nichkhun revealed he had the support and help of his fellow members to make progress with his Japanese skills. He also mentioned that he, “would love to appear in a Japanese film again”.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until March 17th, 2012 to see him in this much-anticipated film.

2PM’s “Hands Up Asia Tour” Creates 60 Billion Won Worth of Economic Value
2PM’sHands Up Asia Tour 2011-2012” came to an end on March 11 in Hong Kong. Since September 2011, the tour visited eight countries for 10 total concerts, and sold out all events for a record-high crowd in 2PM’s concert tour history.
CJ E&M, the main organizer of this concert tour, said, “Although the base region for K-Pop is the Asian market, there are not a lot of artists who can completely sell out 10 concerts in eight different countries over a six month period.”
“The economic impact of this concert tour is estimated to be 60 billion won ($53 million USD). It’s not just the album and ticket sales, but sponsorship and corporate marketing, local promotions, and a lot of other factors. Plus, you must take into account that it helped stabilize K-Pop and Hallyu in the region,” CJ E&M added.
JYP Entertainment commented on the success of 2PM’s world tour by saying, “We are thankful to the fans for helping us achieve this success. It feels good to be able to contribute to the expansion of K-Pop artists to other Asian countries. We’d like to thank our Korean fans for waiting for us during the Asian Tour and we’ll return the love by resuming the Korean activities soon.”

Who Is 2PM Junho’s Ideal Woman?

2PM’s Junho was asked “Who is your ideal type of girl?” on the set of MBC Music’s “That Female Writer, That Male Producer” on March 16. Junho initially answered “There aren’t any South Korean actresses. My ideal type of girl is a foreigner.”
He continued, “All Korean actresses are pretty, talented, and charming so it is hard to say who would be my ideal type. My ideal type is Scarlett Johansson.”
Junho also said, “Among Korean singers however my ideal type is Lee Hyori. The ideal type of girl for me is someone who can lead me.”
The episode of “That Female Writer, That Male Producer” that features Junho and actress Kim So Eun as guests will broadcast on March 24.

2PM Finishes Successful Asian Tour Concert in Hong Kong

In South Korea they sold 7,000 tickets and in Japan they sold 100,000 tickets. The total number of tickets sold across Indonesia, Jakarta, Singapore, Thailand, Bangkok, Nanjing, and Hong Kong were 52,000.
This was 2PM’s first Hong Kong concert on March 10. However all 9,000 seats for the concert were all sold out two months prior to the event.
2PM held a press conference the day before the concert on March 10. They also had a high-touch event with 500 fans.
2PM stated, “We were so happy, because we had such an enjoyable time spent meeting fans that love our music in person. We promise that when we come back we will be better.”
2PM will hold a fan meeting on April 1.
